Best wishes John. Have just found your books and wanted to thank you for writing these stories. Such a great way to tell stories about the people in war. As a veteran combat medic I could see a lot of your experiences with the military and appreciated the skill you have to explain a very violent and bloody event in a soldiers' life. Good luck and good health

Mr.Dalmas,

I have just finished your book, The Regiment, which I acquired on a whim from a huge used bookstore and I would like to express to you the true enjoyment I felt while reading such a unique and compelling novel. My dad is a science fiction lover, and although I have always strayed more towards fantasy I have been instilled with a love for engaging science fiction. It has been awhile since I was so truly motivated by a chance discovery and eager to pursue more by an author who is new to me, if already a true veteran in his genre. I look forward to consuming more of your works, especially those involving the T'swa--a remarkable and well reasoned culture, and passing them along to family and friends who I know will appreciate them.

Best wishes,

Ellen

Hi John I wish I had learned how to contact you this way sooner. I have lots to ask and comment on, but am glad to hear you are with family. Two years ago I got to live with my grandfather who was a WWll vet of the European theater. This history has always meant a lot to me. I have been thinking about writing a history of my grandmother and father. My Nana was born in Vermont in1928 and loves to talk about the farm, animals and how she was born before the doc could get there. Hard times followed as the farm was lost ($12.00) a month was 12 too much. It was to Cambridge, MA. Where dad worked for the WPA building roads by hand. No bobcats like I had for paving. Well I will read up more and hope to hear from more from you. You should get the dragon software to use for VTP work. I don't have it but have had a demonstration and am thinking of getting it to help with getting the stories down on paper.

Hi, John: sorry/glad to read of your current life in assisted living. I just turned 66 so I may not be too far behind you. My kids think I'm more of a wreck than I think I am...but when I look in a mirror, I understand better where they get their opinion. I recently finished The General's President. The book jumped into my hand from the book cart at the VA Hospital, La Jolla. The cover was a real put off for me, but since it jumped, I received. Your novel really sucked me in quickly. I stopped reading Zorba, Love in the Time of Cholera, Kipling short stories, and White Fang (a book in each of my domains, backpack, restaurant, bed and bathroom) and had a hard time putting Arne down for any of those functions. Good job. Very good job. I am a book snob and I liked your book. Howsomewellever, after about 100 pages my snob was crying out...where o where was the vicious editor to make that a novel for all time? I hope more of your books jump into my hand. Best, Lane
